Curious to know what the arts look like when implemented in the classroom? During National Arts in Education Week, you will have the opportunity to visit two high-performing schools and learn what students experience in the arts on an every day basis.
On Wednesday, September 14 from 8:30 am to 12 pm, attendees will visit Edison School of the Arts IPS School 47 and Tindley Genesis Academy, one of the Mayor’s Charter Schools. During the school tours, those in attendance will be able to hear firsthand from the schools’ principals, have the opportunity to ask questions, and visit a handful of classrooms. At 8:30 am on Wednesday, September 14, attendees will meet at the Arts Council of Indianapolis (924 N Pennsylvania Street) where they will enjoy breakfast and be briefed on the morning’s activities. At that time, participants will be divided into carpools for the school tours. The carpools will transport participants to the schools and back to the Arts Council of Indianapolis by 12 pm. Only those who have pre-registered for the school tours on Eventbrite will be able to participate.
PARKING: Please park in the Arts Council’s parking lot (just south of the building off Pennsylvania) or the lot across the street from the Arts Council. Parking is free and no parking passes are required.

NATIONAL ARTS IN EDUCATION WEEK, SEPTEMBER 11 – 17
The Arts Council of Indianapolis and its Any Given Child Indy initiative, a partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools and the Mayor’s Office, are celebrating National Arts in Education Week from September 11 – 17 along with the rest of the country. Designated by Congress in 2010, through House Resolution 275, National Arts in Education Week is a national celebration that promotes and showcases the important role of the arts in education.
